Why this travel blog is called Fly, my darling

I have wanted to create a travel blog for a long time. A loooooong time.

The one thing that has held me back is that for the life of me I could not come up with a name!

And without a name, it just didn’t feel right to put thoughts to paper, not without them having a direction first.

So for what has felt like for ever, I have stewed and brainstormed and procrastinated. I have spent hours thinking up names, tossing and turning them in my mind, coming so very close to making a decision, to only exclaim “No! ‘Dancing with wilderbeasts under a Tuscan sky with orange juice’ is just not right!”.

And then, one sweet day it finally came to me.

I remembered one of my favourite quotes by Erin Hanson and I knew I had found my blog name.

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask “What if I fall?”
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”

Erin Hanson

This quote is so very special to me, firstly because it reminds me of my late Granddad, yet also because within it’s words, all at once it conveys a connection with nature, a questioning heart, and a reassuring voice.

And that is exactly what Fly, my darling is about. ❤
